Our robot consists of three main components:
The base moves the robot
The claw picks up or lays down the playing pieces
The elevator moves the claw up and down
Two drill motors power four wheels under a 45 cm by 48 cm base. Wheels spin simultaneously through a chain and sprocket drive. When climbing ramps, the 4-wheel drive enhances traction.
The claw is mostly made of aluminum and is opened and closed by a motor. It is lined with rubber for better grip. It can lift 1.5 kg with ease.
The claw holder slides up and down the aluminum poles via a cable pulley system powered by a motor attached to the base. A low center of gravity keeps it stable on the ramp.
